Making the Bed

It is strange the things that I miss sometimes. It is not always big grand events or capabilities. Sometimes it is the smallest thing.
For example, I really miss waking up in the morning, hopping out of bed, making it, and turning down the sheets so that when you came home, all you had to do was climb in. I don’t know why, but I really, really enjoyed doing that.
It was a little ritual that started my day off right as an act of service. It felt good to see you walk into the room and slide under the covers without having to worry about anything else. I liked being able to make your landing spot soft.
Come hell or high water, I will one day sleep in the same bed as you again. Even if we have to get dual adjustable mattresses so I can sit up and maneuver. Once that happens, maybe we will be somewhere with a room big enough that will let me make the bed again.
It would take far longer and a great deal more effort, but it would make me very happy to be able to do that for you.
